Birds of Baan Maka

Kalij Pheasant - female

Kalij Pheasant male
On my final morning in Baan Maka I got excellent views of a pair of Kalij Pheasants - simply stunning birds. The pics above were the best i could manage as i had to photograph them from very much afar as they were quite nervous and flighty.

Baan Maka - Hides - Mammals

Most of the action in front of the hide was, of course, birds however there were a few mammals seen. I was gutted to miss a photo of a Burmese hair which hopped across the 'stage' in the last hide I was in! I almost missed, too, a Lesser Mouse Deer, which i managed a very poor capture in the late afternoon 'lack of light'.

Pale legged Leaf warbler
This is the type of bird watching that most people think it is all of the time... Sitting and waiting for birds to silently flit in front of your bins or camera. For me, and I'm sure most, this is a pretty rare sort of birding but one with good rewards for those who wait.
