For birder's reference;
Booked a full day Doi Inthanon birding tour with Uthai Cheummarung [Chiang Mai Birding or Bird Watching] for a 5-30 am pickup. I provided name and address and phone number of hotel. He goes to the wrong hotel, can't find us so he then goes home!
6-30am we're still standing outside hotel.
Simple 'very sorry' [whole wording of email] arrives three hours after tour should have began.
Total day fucked!
Only opportunity to go birding out of Chiang Mai wasted. This is my first time in Thailand for 20 years - who knows if i ever get the chance to do so again?
As i said to him in an email. if he got the wrong place, ok, but then to just go home rather than fix the mistake!? He apparently has never heard of better late than never!
At about 10 am he asks, by email, if i still want to go birding!!! Does not recognise apparently that we have totally missed the best birding. Does not mention cost - does he still expect a full days pay?? If i agreed we would not have been arriving to Doi Inthanon until midday. I was so angry at how useless he was i would not have been able to enjoy it anyway. And i did not feel like giving him a cent.
To this day have never really received a decent apology except for very sorry text - which had no accompanying salutations etc. I have received no explanation as to how it happened. No explanation as to why he just went home.
Please do not give this guy any business.
